Empowering Parents, Inc. was established in 2005 based on the highly successful model of The Family Farm. During our inception phase, Empowering Parents leadership worked closely with The Family Farm’s Northeast Florida chapter in order to develop a program as impactful as theirs. The Family Farm has become so effective in their community that they receive regular referrals from Florida juvenile justice and family services personnel as well as local churches and schools. Empowering Parents has strived over the past two years to make a similar impact in Washoe County.
Empowering Parents uses a program that effectively empowers parents of at-risk youth to change the unacceptable behaviors of their children and ultimately reduce/prevent delinquency. Our program enables parents to motivate their children to make better behavior decisions, thereby affecting their schooling, their activities, and their home life. Parents are supported and even coached by Empowering Parents staff as they implement these skills in their homes. Our program also benefits those young people and the families of these youth, who are returning to their homes following detainment or rehabilitative programs.
Our reputation for providing an effective intervention in families has opened doors to establish relationships with juvenile justice personnel and other local social service providers. Empowering Parents offers these agencies an effective program that they can confidently refer families to for diversion in their effort to prevent youngsters from reaching the point of being adjudicated.
