According to the 2005 Community Needs Assessment
conducted by Join Together Northern Nevada (JTNN):

•   Half of all Washoe County high school students reported drinking alcohol at least once in
     the past 30 days, and 27% reported having their first drink before age 13

•   Nearly 12% of Washoe County high school students had tried marijuana before age 13

•   Nine percent of Washoe County middle school students reported smoking at least one
     cigarette in the past 30 days.

•   Nearly half of all Washoe County high school students had had sexual intercourse, and
     22.7% of those had sex before age 15

•   More than one third of Washoe County high school students and 40% of Washoe County
     middle school students had been in a physical fight at least once during the past year
